CP-107 Argus, Canadian Air force Maritime Patrol Aircraft. Photo: (Mr. Beaman, Canada)

F104AsaM1-.jpg (17566 bytes) Frecce1-.jpg (9597 bytes) the CP-107 Argus was used to replace the P2V-7 Neptune Maritime Patrol (ASW) aircraft in the RCAF in about 1958...they were a very long range anti submarine patrol aircraft and carried a crew of 18. The airframe was a reworked Bristol Britannia with added bomb bays and 3700 HP piston engines for efficiency at low levels. The Argus had a wingspan of 142 feet and a weight (AUW or max TO weight) of 157,500 lb. They had a normal cruise endurance of nearly 30 hours, one long range flight held the record of 31 hours (a flight from Hawaii to Canada's East Coast) for many years. A normal ASW patrol usually lasted 18 to 20 hours. They were replaced in about 1981 by the P-3 Aurora (similar to the USN P-3 Orion. If anyone wants additional information I can probably supply it, I have logged about 7,000 hours as Flight Engineer on these aircraft.

Any Questions to Mr.. Beaman? send us an   e-mail and we will contact him for the answer.
