Flying Firefighters:
In the summertime the forests in Canada and the US are watched constantly by dedicated men and women, The sight of smoke makes them sound the alert, and the flying firefighters will scramble and come to the rescue of large stretches of forests and the wildlife that lives in it. A few years ago Rob Vogelaar went to Canada and took the pictures you find on this page of the planes that these firefighters fly to do their jobs.

Spray
The
Company was formed in 1967 to provide aerial tanker and bird dog services to the
Alberta Government. The Company now owns and operates 34 aircraft, providing
forest fire protection for the
Air
Spray’s Lockheed L-188 Electra Long Liner is presently the fastest
initial attack air tanker in service today.
The
L-188 Long Liner is equipped with the Air Spray Constant Variable Flow Tank
System. The Constant Variable Flow Tank System is an entirely new
computerized system which consists of a single 3000
computerized
door. The system can string out a "long line" or drop its entire
11.365 liters in under 3 seconds.
