2004 Aviodrome The Netherlands

Aviodrome, Aviation Museum, Lelystad The Netherlands.

Up to a few years ago The most interesting Aviation Museum in The Netherlands was based at Schiphol International Air Port in a dome-like building, it was called Aviodome. Because the collection was getting to big for the ‘dome’ they needed a larger space, and a more convenient situation for visitors to park. (Schiphol is to busy)

The public has got a great Aviation museum / theme park to visit in the youngest Dutch province ‘Flevoland’ with an over 6000 m2 exposition-Hanger, a fantastic widescreen movie theater, a large open air museum with an exact replica of the first Air Port departure and arrivals hall of Amsterdam (Now known as Schiphol IAP Amsterdam) including the air traffic control tower ea from the 20’s and 30’s.

Aviodrome has also became the home base for very important historic aviation societies like The DDA (Dutch Dakota Association) who keep historic aircraft flying like several Dakota’s.

I’m sure that the start of Aviodrome can be the start of a very special park that can grow into one of Europe’s most interesting places to visit for everyone who has a warm hart for aviation.

Aviodrome has it’s own website, you can visit it form here
